Electronic Price Updates
A great many of our customers are finding out about the potential for productivity increases by allowing computers to track inventory and determine pricing. How easy that pricing is to keep up in electronic form may greatly affect that productivity. For many years we have updated our prices from information in electronic form (CD's or direct link using EDI and Internet utilities). We make this same information available to you in a consistent form for the major lines we carry.
Files Types
- Comma Delimited (CDF, also known as CSV, Comma Separated Variable Length)
- Fixed Field Length (TXT)
Price Files - Naming Conventions
The Manufacture's price files we have for download are represented in the Mfg List below.
Each Mfg on this list will have 2 or 3 files available. Each file uses the naming scheme below.
MMMPT.EXE
- 'MMM' is the 3 character designation for that MFG.
- 'P' designates which level of pricing is included in that file. P will be '0' for Part Number, Description, List price. P will be '1' '2' '3', etc for List Price and the associated discount level price.
- 'T' indicates organization.
- 'F' - TXT - fixed field length
- 'blank' (the default) is CDF - Comma Delimited.
Each file is a self-extracting (PKWARE) PKZIP file. The files are all encrypted using a random encryption code. Call us and we will fax you a list of the encryption codes associated with each price file at your discount level.
After the file is on your system, I would recommend that you create a 'work' directory to copy the file to and then execute it on a DOS Command Line ( >>C prompt) with the first parameter being -s####### where # is the encryption code for that file. All files will then be decompressed in that work directory.
